Supporting Food Self-Sufficiency, Pupuk Indonesia Collaborates with the Ministry of Agriculture to Manage Land Confiscated by the Attorney General's Office

Bekasi, May 22, 2025 – In order to support national food self-sufficiency, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) collaborated with the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) of the Republic of Indonesia to manage agricultural land, which was confiscated by the Attorney General’s Office (Kejaksaan Agung) of Indonesia in Srimahi Village, North Tambun District, Bekasi Regency, West Java. The land optimization is part of the Jaksa Mandiri Pangan (Independent Food Prosecutor) program, marked by a joint rice planting activity with the Attorney General, Sanitiar Burhanuddin, Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, on Thursday (May 22, 2024).
Rahmad Pribadi, President Director of Pupuk Indonesia, welcomed the Jaksa Mandiri Pangan program by the Attorney General’s Office as a support for food self-sufficiency. This program aligns with the Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s agenda through Asta Cita, where one of the points is realizing national independence through food self-sufficiency.
“This is an extraordinary breakthrough, something we never imagined before. This is just the beginning. There will be many other places. We from Pupuk Indonesia are ready to support,” said Rahmad Pribadi.
In this collaboration, Pupuk Indonesia is responsible for providing agro-inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides. In addition, Pupuk Indonesia also provides agricultural cultivation assistance. Before cultivation, Rahmad explained, Pupuk Indonesia first conducts soil testing using soil testing technology to ensure the proper fertilizer requirements according to soil conditions, making application more effective and efficient.
Rahmad hopes this program can be further expanded to increase its contribution in accelerating national food self-sufficiency. He also assured that Pupuk Indonesia supports the Jaksa Mandiri Pangan program on larger lands and with various commodities.
“If there are other regions where we can plant, we will assess together. If rice is suitable, we plant rice; if corn is suitable, then corn. We are ready to support. This program can help secure food stock,” said Rahmad.
On the same occasion, Attorney General Burhanuddin stated that the Jaksa Mandiri Pangan program is implemented to utilize confiscated assets in criminal cases (corruption and other crimes). In West Java and Banten, he added, the Attorney General’s Office has approximately one thousand hectares of confiscated land.
“There are two benefits from this program: benefits for the community through agriculture, and benefits for securing those assets. We must prevent them from being misused,” he emphasized.
Minister of Agriculture Amran appreciated the collaborative program. He hopes more confiscated lands can be utilized for agriculture to support accelerating national food self-sufficiency. While the world faces a food crisis and rice prices soar, Indonesia is experiencing a rice surplus. This, he added, is inseparable from the support of many parties, such as the Jaksa Mandiri Pangan program.
“I never imagined there are so many confiscated rice fields. Imagine if all across Indonesia, we optimize confiscated land from district, provincial, to the Attorney General’s level,” he remarked.
For your information, this activity is a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding between the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence, Ministry of Agriculture, Pupuk Indonesia, and Perum Bulog signed in March 2025. As a pilot project, the program is run in Bekasi Regency covering 414 plots of land totaling approximately 330 hectares, confiscated from corruption cases. The ceremonial land is located in Srimahi Village, with an area of 337,543 square meters (over 33 hectares) spread over several plots and cultivated by 76 farmers.
